Is green tea healthy or not?

People everywhere seem to recommend green tea for its apparent positive effects on health, but is it really true? Isn't the caffeine bad? And what about the link between high temperature beverage-drinking and increased risk of esophageal cancer? For someone who never consumes coffee or tea, should I consider drinking green tea on a regular basis for the health benefits only? I'm not asking if green tea is an "OK" alternative to coffee or a redbull, I'm asking if green tea is something worth adding to your diet just to reap the apparent health benefits.
