  These bites are small raised red dots and they do usually occur in groups of 3. The usual sites are around the ankles although they can appear elsewhere like under waistbands. Clean the bites as suggested before and use a Benadryl cream and you can also use hydrocortisone cream. If you have no allergies to diphenhydramine, take oral Benadryl. The oral Benadryl will help calm your histamines down and stop the itching sooner. Soaking in an Aveeno bath will help also. The vet told us that when the fleas start biting people they are pretty desperate and your pet is probably loaded with them. Comb your pet and look for what the vet calls "pepper", little dark granules of dried bloody flea poop. When these get wet they leave tiny blood stains. If you see these, you will know that you need some serious flea treatments for the pet(s) and probably your house. The flea eggs can lay dormant for up to 18 mos according to our vet. When conditions are right they hatch. Ask you vet for flea treatmant that will also kill the eggs. It can be tough to get cntrol over but it can be done. Been there done that! It sucks. Good luck!
