Why do your eyes bleed when you get a bloody nose?

  • I just got through with a bloody nose, and while my nose was bleeding, my left eye started to bleed. What's causeing this? Do I need to go see my doctor?

    If it was caused by a sharp impact you could have damaged a lot of the capillaries around your nose and sinuses. This could have caused a damaging backup of blood...to the point that it had nowhere to go once it started pooling so picking the path of least resistance, escaped through your tear ducts. Frankly, I'd be a little concerned, especially since you said it was the worst nosebleed you'd ever had. You might want to think about a trip to the ER since it's practically impossible to get in to see your doctor without some kind of notice. I'm from a small town and it STILL takes weeks to get in...lots of old people in my community...
