How do I stop bleeding noses?

Bleeding Noses?

  • I tend to get bleeding noses alot, mainly in the summer. Is there anything I can do to stop them myself from happening all the time, or should I be seeing a doctor in case its serious?

  • Answer:

    1. Don't take ibuprofen (advil), aspirin, or other blood thinners. 2. Use a humidifier to keep the nasal membranes moist. 3. Don't snort anything up your nose (it irritates the lining). 4. Drink more water to make certain you are hydrated. 5. When pinching your nose closed, lean your head forward instead of backward so as to prevent the blood from running into your stomach. 6. If these suggestions don't work, definitley go see your doctor. My husband had to have some of his vessels in his nose cauterized because it bled everytime it got bumped, which was pretty often, considering he's a martial arts instructor.

It could be a sign of high blood pressure, dry air, trauma, or drugs/medications. Get it checked out by a doctor.

you should go and see your doctor because if they are happening all the time you may need to get you nose cotterized. that is what happened to me and now i dont get nose bleeds that often

Always see a doctor to make sure there is nothing abnormal. You need to se a Ear, Nose Throat specialist. I had bloody noses a lot and the doctor found it was a sinus polyp. In the mean time keep your nasal membranes moist with saline nasal spray. Allergies and/or certain medications dries your nose out causing bleeding. But get checked first. By the way....Since the doc removed the polyp no nose bleeds for me. Other things can cause nose bleeds = high blood pressure or snoring cocaine

Do you have sinus sometimes you blow your nose a lot and it bleeds, but it could be blood pressure. Be safe go to your doctor because anytime blood comes from any part of your body there is something wrong.

Are you drinking enough water?????? That would always happen to me, and I would get wicked headaches, too. Do you get those, too? Start drinking at least 64 ounces of water a day, more if it's hot out. Good luck.

Nose bleeding is always serious. First of all tilt your head forward when you pinch your nose that will help the blood to run out instead of into your stomach. Second of all you need to see a doctor because you may need some tested done. Third don't take any medicine like Ibuprofen because its a blood thinner. Fourth sleep with a humidifier in your room and that may help.

if you are in area where it is very dry which may be the reason for the nose bleeds, buy a humidfier for your bedroom

The reason your nose often bleeds in the summer is because it becomes dry with the lack of humidity in the air. Also you may be affected by some mild summer pollens wich can also dry out the delicate tissues of your nose. An easy solution to this problem is to sleep with a humidifier in your room. Also you may find it helpful to increase your intake of water. As a last resort you can also use a Q-tip to gently aply a thin layer of vaseline in each or just one of your nostrils.

here r some ways to prevent bleeding noses -line the nostrils with vaseline or petroleum jelly -do not rub or pick the nose to immediately treat nosebleed -sit down, tilt your head slightly forward, pinch nose at the bridge (part underneath bone) and hold for 10 full minutes. resist the urge to peek -lie down, get a bag of ice, and let it sit for a short while in the bridge of ur nose see a doctor if nosebleeds do not stop or it frquently occurs every 12 hours
