They doubled the state park fees this year. I'd go to Nat. Forest Campsites or another state. The coast mountains Trinity Alps are still snowed in I was just passing through last week. There is a hiking club with cabins. West Point Club I think. On Mt. Tam. in Marin. Membership is low and facilities basic but great hike and a better view of the Bay. They may have guest use or join if it looks good to you.
