Which companies should I apply to for a marketing internship?

What can be an average marketing intern salary in SF?

• I'm planning to apply for a paid internship in San Francisco but I would like to know roughly before if I can make ends meet. If I get e.g. for $10/h -> $1600/month it seems almost imposible for me to be able to pay simple rent (unless I share room etc). So does anybody know what companies are usually paying for a marketing intern?

  Great question.  Currently in the internship world roughly 50% of internships overall are unpaid.  This is unfortunate, that said more and more companies are moving to paid internships to attract better interns and be compliant with the law. The average paid internship still pays just around $10/hour.  Most company's have the goal of paying a wage that is fair but still quite low as this is an internship and will also be loaded with educational and resume building opportunities. Some startups who are seeking higher quality talent will pay in the $15-$20 range.  Some larger corporations who are attracting MBAs and top talent will pay $15-$20 an hour; however, many large companies with big internship programs still pay marketing interns closer to $10/hour. Given that such a large % of companies pay in the $10/hour range, I would try to find a strategy that doesn't rule out this option.  Save some money before the summer.  Take a loan from your parents (if this is an option) and look to work during the school year to pay it off.  SF is a ridiculously expensive city but there are ways to keep it cheaper.  Check out our housing guide:  http://www.internmatch.com/guides/san-francisco-summer-housing-guide Many interns will live in Berkeley campus student housing with a number of other students, which is a less expensive neighborhood but still makes it possible to commute into the city easily.
