How to reach manali from jammu?

I want to enjoy snow in Manali. What is the best way to reach Manali? Can anyone recommend good Manali hotels / resorts? I am looking for a good family hotel. Will I have to carry a lot of woollens?

    Best way to reach: fly to Kullu and then taxi. You could also travel from New Delhi, but its a longer road.
