Is the DSi worth the upgrade?

Should I replace my DSi or upgrade to a 3DS?

  • Here's my dilemma: my current DSi's L and R buttons have started to go. The R button is completely unresponsive unless I do the blowing trick, and that's only a temporary ...show more

  • Answer:

I say keep your DSi. You mentioned about blowing to the R button. There's a possibility that it just have lots of dust build up or got sticky inside of it. You could try to take them apart to fix them first. Give it a really good clean. See if that works. I've had same problem with my old DSi and it totally worked. Then save up for your 3DS and wait for better games to come out that you may want to play. Then switch to it. Maybe in the future if you miss the GBA so much, you can try to buy micro gameboy or some other replacement. Micro is awesome by the way...pity it's underrated. Good luck and have fun!

I borrowed Nintendo 3DS from my friend with a few games, and so far i'm very impressed. The 3d works. Period. I put the slider somewhere in the middle. It does make your eyes tired, but i was still able of playing in 3d. Battery life, yes, it is horrible. But if you get a car charger for maybe $10, and use the charging cradle, like i have, i didn't have any problems. Looking forward to some ofthe big releases later this year. @@@

The 3DS for sure. It's AMAZING. Like honestly, once you get the 3DS you don't even want to touch a regular DS. Like ever again. You can just do more with the DS. It has more built in options then the DSi, and honestly any thing you can play on the DS or DSi you can play on the 3DS so why not get the best version possible? I play my games with the highest 3D function and it doesn't bother me a bit, but for those that it does Nintendo has installed a 3D slider to lover the images down all the way to 2D. The graphics are hurting your eyes? Then it's your fault for not properly adjusting the screen to meet your personal preferences. Everyone is different. And as for adverse health effects to the eyes, that's unproven. The 3D technology hasn't been around long enough to properly study it's effects. If anything, I've heard not to be worried. I mean, we see our world in 3D, don't we? The DSi is only a minor upgrade from the original DS while the 3DS is a completely different piece of machinery. It would be like getting a Game Boy color over a Game Boy Advanced. It just wouldn't make much sense. Besides that, I really have a feeling that this will be the big thing. Game manufactures are going to focus on the 3DS more than the DS and DSi. The technology just gives them more options and they're going to run with that. I only have two games so far; Nintendogs and Cats [only got that one yesterday though] and The Sims 3D, and I LOVE them. There's a ton to do on these games and I've clocked over an hour every day playing and I still have a ton to do. Even without games, you have tons of built-in features. The Augmented Reality games are really cool, and so is Face Raiders, but they do have their limitations. The only current colors are aqua blue and black, but tons more colors are coming out in the upcoming months. The price won't be going down for awhile; did you see how long it took for the price for the Wii to drop?

A 3DS has all the features of a DSi, such as camera and internet. But the 3DS has 3D effects! I would go with the 3DS!
