Is it possible to learn skiing/snowboarding to a sufficient standard?

Which Guitar is the more difficult one to learn- Bass guitar or the standard one?

  • Edit: Thanks to for pointing it out that I was referring to the standard guitar as acoustic guitar. Now this mistake has been rectified. Though bass guitar has 4 strings and standard has 6, bass's scale length is longer compared to the standard one's. So does that add to the difficulty in learning the bass or is it that the length of the scale doesn't matter much ? And due to the nature of sound the bass guitar produces, is it a bit difficult to learn songs "by ear" than it is with the standard guitar?

  • Answer:

I think you are a bit confused about terms. Acoustic guitar refers to a guitar without electrical amplification. Acoustic guitars can be bass guitars or standard guitars, as can electric guitars. In general the Bass guitar tends to be accompaniment to the melody which is played on the standard guitar. If you are interested in melodies, then start with a standard guitar. If you are interested in bass lines or funk, then the bass guitar would be a good starting point. Bass requires bigger hands. I think you will find more resources and have a more interesting time learning standard guitar, and from there you can branch out into the Bass if you find you are still interested. In the cases I've observed, more people stick with standard guitar rather than bass - as standard guitar is rewarding to play by yourself, while bass usually is played as part of an ensemble.
