Which Institute should I join for GRE Coaching and What is the right time to write the exam?

Many 3rd Years are confused whether to join a coaching institute or not.

Answer:
As the other answer says, coaching for GRE isn't really required. But, I would say it boils down to two categories Category 1 - making use of the online resources (there are way too many options out there) for preparation, guidance on application process, Visa and then the travel. (http://www.edulix.com is one place which I would strongly recommend for this) - being able to stick to the deadlines set by yourself - i.e. there will be no one to push you about preparation/setting up an exam date et al unless you are working as a group and there are people who push each other and get going - as regards to guidance during the application process , you can take help from the seniors. There are also other resources like http://freshmentors.com etc. Category 2 - join a coaching institute during your 3rd year summer - get done with the GRE/TOEFL by July/August - write the essays by September - get the LoRs/filling up the applications etc. by October - Novemeber and you're done! It depends on which category you fall into and thus can choose accordingly My path to this was kind of mixed up and will outline in short here I took the Princeton Review classes during my 4-1 i.e. the classes happened in VIT campus (I am not sure if it is still being done now). The Princeton people would come to VIT and teach us over the weekends. But I have later decided not to give GRE and so just went ahead with normal coursework. I have done the Category 1 stuff in Jun 2011 when I was working and then I was all done by November 2011. Having seen both, I would say being in Category 1 is better :) and trust me, you would save quite some money by just not being lazy and doing stuff on your own! Also I'm not sure if I should say this in public, fbut rom my personal experience, self-study was way better than the coaching institutes I have attended.

I don't think you need to join a institute for GRE coaching. GRE, unlike JEE or AIEEE, is quite an easy exam. 10th standard maths is asked there. The only hard part is the Verbal section. I think one or two months are sufficient to get a 320+ score. GRE score isn't really an important factor anyway. You just need a decent score to clear the screening rounds.
