    Who told you that load of crap? 60 and 80 GB PS3's can play PS2 games, the 60 GB plays 99% of PS2 games, while the 80 GB plays 80% of them. There might be some lag or audio distortions when playing certain games, but the main board won't burn. Gosh, people will believe anything they hear...

KABAAAM!!! :-) Seriously, who told you this nonsense? If you insert PS2 game into PS2 compatible PS3 (20GB, 60GB or 80GB) - it'll play it. If you insert PS2 disc into 40GB, it'll just tell you that PS2 games aren't supported. That's it.
