360's are getting cheap now, but make sure you get one with the new chipset as the old one's are notiously unreliable. Why do you want Gears of War? For the multiplayer experience? If so, then you'll need to sign up for XBL, so it will work out as a lot of money just to play that and it's sequel. I've always thought you should decide your choice of console on the games. If you think there are enough games you want to play on the 360 and you have the time and money to spend on them then go for it.
