Do i have to make a new avatar for xbox live?

I just got live after about a month of playing my xbox with an avatar, I got many achievements on that avatar and now that im joining xbox live it's asking me to make a new one. ...show more

I dont think so unfortunately. I had over 5000 gamer-score when i joined Xbox Live and i had to get rid of it and start a fresh profile. You old account will still exist but not on Xbox Live, i think if you change your name to something original it might let you keep your avatar according to my friend but im not sure.

Yes you can, the avatar is just the person that represents you, all of your achievements and and everything will stay they are just asking you if you would like to change the appearance of the avatar.
