Is semen a viable alternative to fossil fuels?

Alternative to fossil fuels?

  • What is a possible alternative to fossil fuels? I'd like it if someone could go into detail and provide some links.

  • Answer:

without the energy that has been stored underground for millions of years, all of our energy has to come from either the sun, or the earth. Then it's just a matter of how you store that energy. you can collect the sun's energy in solar panels making electricity, or by concentrated solar rays, through mirrors or lenses to make heat (remember burning insects with a magnifying glass at summer camp), and that heat is used to generate electricity. You can collect the earth's energy by drilling down to where it's hot. 15,000 feet down, which is a pretty common depth to reach for oil wells, is hot enough to produce steam that can power a generator. You can harness the wind's energy, which of course, is powered by the sun. You can burn plants (fire wood), or fuel derived from plants (bio diesel), to make heat. Plants are stored solar energy. You can harness the energy in rivers, which is fed by rain water, which is there because of the sun's energy. You can harness the energy of falling tide water, which is powered by... the moon. Oh. I guess there's 3 sources of energy then. well once you have the electricity, you can store it in batteries on board the vehicle. Or you can send it through a wire that the vehicle contacts, think subway cars, trolleys and bumper cars. The other thing you can do is store the energy in chemicals, like hydrogen, methane, methanol, ethanol or oil. Each one is a topic in itself. Bio diesel is a compound derived from oil and methanol. (Note that when I say ethanol, I mean ethanol brewed from cellulose, the polymer that makes up the structural part of plant matter, which can be broken down into sugar by enzymes, then fermented into ethanol like any other sugar). So that's pretty much a general outline.

Methane produced from Anaerobic Digesters is not fossil fuel. Utilizing this technology you can produce electricity and heat with no emissions

ALGAE OIL OR COOKING OIL. PS. Doctor Jello will hate you.

Any alcohols like methanol and ethanol use fossils fuels in the fertilizer that grows the plants so it does use fossil fuels. However, a good alternative is steam-powered cars.

Ok, technically this IS a fossil fuel, but since it can be made from poop, it's also renewable and an alternative fuel: natural gas (methane). It's what my family's cars run on instead of gasoline, and it's pretty cool to drive down the road and know we aren't using any gasoline or polluting nearly as much as gasoline vehicles do. You can learn more about natural gas as a fuel from my sources below. We love ours - cheap to fill up, cheap to buy the cars themselves (used), and better for the environment. A win-win situation!
