No it does not cost any money. At least it doesn't for me, and i'm on an AT&T Pantech Matrix. Are you updating facebook via text message or are you using a facebook application on the phone. Because if you're updating via text message, it won't cost you anything, but if you're using an app, it most likely will be using airtime(internet) and cost you money.
