How to get a start in car racing?

Hi, I m Mandheer, living in Australia. I am 26. want to get into stock car racing. is it too late to start now?

  • what does it take to get to the track. do you have to be a citizen of australia?

  • Answer:

depending if you want to race dirt track or black top, dirt racing in the regions is as simple as going to your local speedway and becoming a member of the club and with their help buy a car which most clubs have contacts for and members will be only too happy to help you on your way, you will need to become a member of the umbrella organisation like NDRA which will include your licence and insurance.

Other answers

Most racers start their career racing go-karts from about 6 years old. If you want to go racing, its best you try to find a Kart racing club near you, get your C.A.M.S licence, (you start on a provisional licence in Karts) and see how you go. If you are any good you may be able to build enough sponsorship to step into stock cars or dirt modifieds. A season in go-karts will cost you well over $10,000 for the first year. A dirt modified or stock car season will cost many times more than that.
