    First of all, the 15k rating you speak of does not indicate warmth, its waterproofness. 15k means 15000mm waterproof. If you want to get scientific, this means a coat with 15k waterproofness can withstand 15000 millimeters of rain in a 24 hour period before the wearer will get wet. 15k stands for waterproof rating. Its not a warmth rating. But Never go below 10k. I think 15k should be good for you.
