Hot Waxing a Snowboard?

Ok so if i put rub on wax all over my board and then hit it with a heat gun, is that just as effective as hot waxing? just minus the iron and dripping it on right???

I'd be worried that a heat gun might get the board too hot and damage it, but if you're careful it should work.
