    i would just try and learn to deal with the burton mounting system after all it works very well once learned

I have some Rome Arsenal bindings that my friends drool over. Rome is a bunch of guys who actually came from Burton and made their own company. With their bindings you can use both the cap-strap or the toe-strap. http://www.romesnowboards.com/product/bindings/arsenal/ $160, but I got mine at a grand opening sale cheaper.

I know what you mean when you say anti-Burton as i am too, however i still think they make the best bindings, I would go for Burton freestyles for that price. They are a long lasting and durable binding... just stay away from their boards...
