What are the pros and cons of getting a tattoo?

You won't like this answer, but ... If you are having to ask, then you just aren't ready to have a tattoo. It's not a matter of 'where is the best place', but of where YOU want it. And you should already have thought through the pros and cons, and know which weighs up higher for YOU. What is right for one person may not be right for others.

You need to be careful of diseases that can be tranmitted from BOTH the needle and ink pots. Do not be fooled if told that the needles are the only part that can transmit disease. Insist on new needles and new ink pots, even if it cost more.

Do not get it on lower back, or near any female parts..... Unless you want to be known as a (very bad name for females that will have sex with anyone). You might lose a guy you like if you have a tattoo, that makes you like like a.... well you know.

WAIT, between the ages of 18-20 I got six tattoos. Big mistake I hate them already and Im only 25. I wish I would have waited cause all the things I thought were cool then are no longer cool now. Luckily you can't see a single one because I choose to go below the belt.

You just have to make sure it is something you want. So many people do it just to "look cool". Tattooing is not a fad, it is a lifestyle. Be prepared to appriciate what you get, and try to avoid the tattoo cliches. Avoid your lower back, or say you ankle. Try to be original, and you will be happier with your choice.

All I can say, is make sure its what you want. Think it through because its going to be there FOREVER!!! I have a lame tattoo that i hate looking at!! it hurts but only for a little bit, then its worth it once its healed and looks nice!!

Pros: It looks pretty/cool/whatever Cons: Regret, your body could reject it, Future employers may not like it (if you get it in a visible spot, that is), The best place on your body is where ever you want it. You have to live with it for the rest of your life, you should be the one deciding where to get it.
