    The same qualifications anywhere: 1. Have serious talent. 2. Go to art school. There are serious good artists out there and you need to be better than them. 3. Make sure you are sleeved. This proves your commitment to the art. It is de rigueur if you want the tattoo artist to take you serious. 4. While in school, intern for free at a shop to learn the lingo, meet the right people (There is no sense in learning from someone who is ignorant.), and get a feeling of what a tattoo shop is all about. 5. Put your best work into a portfolio. 6. Then get an apprenticeship.

In my state you need a simple class on sterilization techniques and a test which involves demonstrating on paper that you can draw a tattoo. Then you get you liscense. Most shops split fifty fifty with you the dollars ou get for a tat. Some charge you space rental in their shop. Finding you own niche market is the key to success. Some guys are great with faces but can't do a cartoon image to save their lives. One is Asheville north Carolina does nothing by letters. He can do anything from old English to Hebrew to Russian and modern fonts too. My best friend used him for a beautiful PLUR across his shoulders. Dude people will say that you will never make it an your going to be a looser and just get a real job. A real looser would not follow his dream an would sacrifice contentment for a steady paycheck. Do this and follow your dream. And if a guy named Goober wanders into you shop give him fifty percent off okay?!
