Overpaid on maternity leave '06, queried pay straight away told it was correct - they now want money back help

Do i have to pay money back as this will force me into debt. I was wrongly reassurred salary was correct. Confused by maternity pay & legitimate pay rise.

I know in the NHS you do but they should take it in instalments and at a level you can afford as it was their fault.

I think that you will need to pay it back, however it's their error and remind them of this. I think that agreed installments would be a good compromise for both parties. Good luck
