    Great Question. The Dem's in congress have been in the majority over a year. They promised to cut the pork barrel spending in half, and it is now higher, a whooping $17.4 billion. I am a democrat, but I think they make promises to get in office, then dont give the promise a second thought once they are in. I believe in order to get some honesty from elected officials, they should be limited to one term if they do not keep campaign promises. The voters cant tell the difference between honesty and campaign rhetoric any more. The elected officials should be held accountable.

If the top of the ticket loses, it obviously will drag down the other candidates seeking or hoping to retain Congressional seats. In a scenario of a Democratic defeat for the White House, the party will lose 10-12 seats. In a win, it may actually be retaining the same advantage or losing a couple of seats. The Dems basically backed into The advantages in the House and Senate due to Republican bungling, but have done little to assure voters that they are the party who can get things done by controlling the legislative branch.

As you say, even if they gain more seats, they can not stop the new executive tyrant. Congress gave up the power to stop the executive branch, and now they have no teeth. We are in a police state tyranny.

hopefully not many. the idea of cut and run or turning iraq into a popularity contest is patently ridiculous and only serves to make things much worse with al qaeda in the future. John Mccain has a unique understanding of iraq and will show the patience to deal with this situation properly. we can only hope the liberals have limited effect with congress or were all in danger.
