How is Facebook's graph search better than the normal search?

I don' care much about the change as such. The only thing that really pisses me off is that it is positioned on the left side and all the buttons are on the right side. That's pure madness! I don't even notice messages or notifications since my eyes don't even register the right side of the screen(where the ads usually are). From the business perspective, it's not. It's only better for Facebook really. Since it's powered by Facebook's likes, all it does is encourage companies to spend more and more of their marketing dollars on Facebook. Since more likes will always equal higher placement in search results, big brands and corporations who are willing to spend can literally buy their way to the top of the results. It's a complete pay to play scheme, because it forces companies of all sizes to pay if they want prominent placement in the results. Search engines are supposed to be somewhat objective. But Facebook's Graph Search is the exact opposite, prioritizing content by how much the companies behind it have paid to put it in front of you, rather than what's most relevant to your actual query.
