I have severe back pain. What helps me most is water exercise classes. I also just started tai chi. I've taken one class, but I've also discovered that you can get some free beginning classes on the computer. After one week, I see improvement. I also do a lot of walking. When I have flareups, I use heat and ice alternately. I might also take tylonol or aleve, but I'm not one for medications.
