Do I have to take a SAT in order to go to college?

I'm a Junior(HS), do i still need to take SAT/ACT if I want to go to a community college?

    Do you plan on getting a two-year or four-year degree? If a two-year degree is your goal, then taking the SAT or the ACT would be a waste of time and money. However, if you are planning to transfer to a four-year institution later on, then you should take them now instead of waiting until later. Who knows? If your score is high enough and your GPA is 3.2 or higher, a four-year college could offer you a scholarship right out of high-school. Wouldn't that be a "kick"?

Wendy, Although it may not be necessary, it might qualify you for some grants that you would not otherwise qualify for. Some require a certain score on the ACT or SAT test to be eligible. I attended a Community College then transferred to a four year College without taking either one of them but I did not even think I could qualify for scholarships. Talk with a guidance counselor or a College Representative in charge of Financial Aid. They are generally versed on what is/is not available. I hope that you do well when you decide to go. Some community colleges have entrence exams such as COMPASS that are required to take if you scored low or just didn't take the SAT/ACT. You should first check to see if the community college your intrested in offers such placement exams in place of a SAT/ACT. But, your best bet is to still take either or both test to save yourself add agervation!

community college does not typically require SAT/ACT. They will probably have a placement test when you apply for the community college of your choice that you will be required to take that before being accepted.
