How Should I study for the MCAT?

How soon should you start to study for the MCAT?

  • How long on average would be a good amount of time to study for the MCAT?

  • Answer:

I will help you as much as I can. Okay well in my opinion about total of 4 hours if you do want to do good, but always take a 30 minute break after every hour or so. Whenever you feel dizzy or zoning out always stop and take a break like watch TV, eat a snack, or play games whatever. Believe me that always work if you watch tv because if you study nonstop or do take breaks and don't watch tv your brain will just get overworked. If all you think about studies and focus on studies than you will more likely to forget the next day. Here are other possibilities. 1) No hours, if you are a slacker. Most slackers do that but I suggest not doing it. 10 Percent. I will give it a 10 because some slackers do make good grades when they don't study, which sometimes amazes me. 2) 1-2 hours (30 percent percent) if you are a fast learner, I recommend studying about 1-2 hours with breaks of course if you are really smart. Most smart people study over 5 hours but I highly don't recommended it because if you over study than you will forget more easily and not such a good idea, also it might damage your brain. Had that happened to me and didn't like it, I basically blanked out, and remember everything at the last minute. 3) Studying 3-4 hours (40 percent), at times this is probably better than 1-2 hours because if you study a little it might not help you at all. I would suggest studying for 3-4 hours if you just want to make a good grade. Also the phrase the saying my friend used to say the "more you study, the more you will make good grades" that is not true at all. All it matters about the motivation and the person itself. 4) Studying over 4 hours (30-40 percent)- Sometimes it is good but I highly don't recommend studying hours and hours. It just like I said will worn your brain out. You simply won't remember, but you may retain more info. 5) Studying overboard (Negative percent)- This is actually worse than not studying at all because if you study like for a day or 10 hours you will definitely not get any sleep, mess up your brain, and will forget everything you did. It is a 50 percent chance you will damage your brain and forget everything. Additional Details: Also if you are talking about weeks than probably a week before the actual test and just do the procedures that is best for you. Hope this helps
