How should I describe my interests?

What would be the best way to describe one's research interests on a website?

  • My interests are Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Neural Networks and Computational Neuroscience. EDIT - I am looking for an interesting way to describe your interests to people who may know nothing about Computer Science

  • Answer:

Start at a high level and hook the reader with a big picture question that anyone can relate to. Then with each subsequent sentence, get more and more specific until you are describing the particular problems that interest you and the way you want to go about getting answers.

Carl Vondrick, Aditya Khosla and Tomasz Malisiewicz have great website layouts. The three of them are from MIT's 'Dream Team' in Computer Vision. Websites: http://web.mit.edu/vondrick/ http://people.csail.mit.edu/khosla/ http://people.csail.mit.edu/tomasz/

I'm not sure about the other interests, but projects in computer vision usually tend to have visually pleasing pictures produced as part of the work. Perhaps a picture showing the result of the work, with a small para by the side describing the project?

Sounds like you just did it to me. Why not just cut and paste that onto your website?
