Do I need a parent to be homeschooled?

  • I am lookin into being homeschooled but both my parents work during the day. I'm 14 an live in New Zealand Wellington Lower Hutt. -how do you start being homeschooled? -does ...show more

  • Answer:

Okay first of all you have to make sure it's what you want. Then you can call the board of studies ( or the top educations center in nz) and then get you parents to talk to them and organize how to have homeschooling set up. And every week they send out packages of the work you should complete and then send it back and that's how it works. And I think you have to have your parents to sign somstuff each week to say you are the one to have completed the work

Other answers

Yes, you need a guardian or a parent to be home schooled. I guess you can have an aunt or an uncle teach you, but they need to be able to understand everything themselves and to be able to explain it in a way so that you can get it too. And yes, it DOES cost a lot of money because you'll need to purchase the textbooks yourselves while if you go to a public school you'll usually get all that stuff for free. The downside of being home schooled is that sometimes you can get a little behind since you're learning at your own pace.

Retarded Wisdom

I don't know the answer to many of those questions but I can tell you that you do not need a parent to be homeschooled. There are some sites online where you can get a teacher online and they assign you homework over the computer!
