  • Answer:

    1. Do your research. Find out what the homeschooling laws are in the UK. If there's anything you can do to make your parents' job easier, do it. For example, if they have to write a letter to the school saying they'll be homeschooling you, write a draft to help them get started. (Don't send it or anything: give it to your parents when you approach them.) 2. What do you want to do in homeschool? Are you asking them to quit their jobs and teach you? That probably won't go over so well. The best thing would be to have a general plan in place and present it to them. I write resources on this at my blog: www.hackinghighschool.wordpress.com. The legal stuff is geared toward US laws, but most of it is applicable to you. There are all sorts of ways to do homeschool...and a lot of them don't involve tons of money, which will be a relief to most parents. 3. Address their concerns. Before you even talk to them, think about what their objections will be. Most parents ask these questions: what about socialization? Will you be able to go to university? How will you learn what you're supposed to learn? How will you stay motivated? Will it cost a lot? If you're not currently doing well in school, they will ask how you expect to do any better at homeschool. I personally think that homeschool is a much better opportunity for you to do well, since you can create your homeschool to work best with the way you learn. 4. Be nice to your parents. 5. Approach them. If you're serious about homeschooling IMMEDIATELY, tell them your plans (you want to research the laws and the homeschooling options) and address their concerns. See if they'll let you stay home for a day to research. Most parents won't, but you can ask. Or you can wait till you've done your research and approach them. The fact that you have answers to their questions will be a huge help in getting a positive response.

My daughter came to me at the end of 10th grade and told me she wanted to home-school. She was having a very hard time in school with friends going bad. They were getting into drugs and sex and all of that and she didn't want to go the way they were going. She wanted to home school to stay away from all that. She is almost in 12th grade now and is still schooling at home. It isn't easy, in fact sometimes you have to work harder than you do in regular school but it will be worth it. Maybe if you approach your parents the way my daughter approached me they will support the idea. There is a program called K12 International that is available internationally. Here in the States, it is free through the school districts. Perhaps there is something available for you through your school. Also there a lot of websites that can help you with home school curriculum for free.

Ok , here is a web site... www.setonhomeschool.org . I homeschool my daughter for that same reason you don't want to go back to school. BULLIES.. Just sit and explain things to your parents. tell them to get online and see for themselves what kind of people you have to be around. Explain to them that you are scared and that you feel something bad might happen if you go back. Please don't be afraid to talk to your parents.
