How many days in a school year?

  • Answer:

You know that your children need to go to school 180 days, like you said. Look at their records or grade card from the school they attended. Take that amount of days and add it to the days that you have already home schooled your children. Simple math problem, I hope I did not offend you. You then can determine how many more days they need to attend to complete the year. My suggestion is to keep good records - this means keep their grade cards and asking for a copy of their school records which has all their academic learning as well as attendance recorded on it. It will not hurt your children if they go a few extra days to make sure you have all their days in. Check out the links below for help in educating your children. Happy teaching.

In GA you are required to provide 180 days of instruction. Since your children were enrolled in school up until Feb, you can deduct the number of days they were in public school. Then deduct the number of days you have homeschooled. Never contact the local school or school board, as they are not familiar with homeschooling.

Hi! first of all? you deserve wonderful credit for homeschooling! I am a homeschooler in my sophomore year so I a bit of an expert on this :D It is not about days, its about completion. In my case my core subjects (the hardest and most important) are Biology Algebra 2 English If, Algebra 2 had taken me 2 months to finish because I loved math (which is not the case) I would receive a credit in Algebra 2. Or, if I was behind in Algebra 2 because I was having trouble with it, (which I am) I am going to go into the 3rd week in June to finish the book.
