How to finish high school at home?

How can i finish high school at home?

  • Im in year 8 and i cant concentrate at school so i thought i would study at home. Is it possible for me to study at home? If so please give me information. Thanks

  • Answer:

hi im in year nine, going in to year ten in september, and i absoloutly HATED school so i asked my mum and she agreed to let me be taught at home, and it is extremley easy! some people will tell you that you wont get a proper education but tbh you'll get a better one, because most schools theres kids messing about and its hard to concentrate whereas in your own peacefull environment you find it ten times better to concentrate and get on with your work. id reccomend getting a tutor for your maths and english coz they are the most important subjects, then with any of the others you want to take you just can follow books such as cgp (which i use) or letts so yeah id deffinatly reccomend it also try www.heas.org.uk they have free panfletts and stuff you can order to give infomation on it all. best of luck to you :)

Response to: "I don't rec commend home schooling, because it was a disaster for my 5 nieces and nephew and both their parents were certified teachers!!" The "certified teacher" part is likely the problem here. Homeschooling is a great option for many people. However, some who are "certified" teachers try to run their homes like a government school. This is NOT the way to homeschool. Here is a link to the largest homeschooling organization in the US. I am guessing that you are not in the US, but they have links to info. about other countries' homeschooling laws, etc. Btw, do not listen to anyone who tells you that completing homeschool will not give you a "real" diploma. In the US, at least, many fine universities recognize that homeschoolers are often far better prepared academically & socially for university.

Hello I worked with two home schooled students and they were using a great program from Calvert School. It was easy to follow with great resources. I was teaching grade 7 and grade 5 and both were excellent. Not sure how you can contact them for details but I'm sure you can search for it. I know it seems like a great choice but remember to be home school needs lots of self motivation, it's not always as easy as it seems. Try going to a home school website and get some information from kids your own age and see how they like it. Good Luck

Not advisable.Learning from school, getting beats from class teacher, the pressure to learn and compete with friends are very important for a positive learning .There is a proverb "spare the rod and spoil the child".Never learn solitary .

Oh yea? Think twice, you're just in the phrase that you're totally against anything you're don't like. If you stay at home, where are your friends then, where are all the times you sneaking off, thinking of crazy stuff ( like putting died rat in your teacher's class, yeah I did it once). The laughters and the joys of being a kid is all there!!!!! But again, it's up to you. You can do course online. However I don't think there can be anyone guarantee that, as to get a certification you have to participate in all the exams and test (and as you're in Aus, things will get more complicated once you're in year 11 and 12, when you'll b doin VCE, u probably heard about that).

yes, you absolutely can - and may even be better off, from what you are describing. Check out WorldWide IDEA's Private Academy - http://www.worldwide-idea.org - students enrolled in their program live all over the globe.

try home school or an independent study school. im in year 11 right now. i dropped out of a regular high school after 9th grade and went to an independent study one. i found it to be a lot better. it takes a lot of work though. in a regular school, you're taught everything you need to know, but once you enroll in a school like this you need to really read and do the work otherwise you won't pass. but once you pass a class, you pass it with actually learning something. not like in a regular classroom... i recently tried going back to a regular school and in the end, i went back to this one.

I was home schooled at home for all 13 years of my education and I feel that it prepared me well for life. Several things about homeschooling. You need to know the laws for your state. The Department of Education in most states has some sort of requirements that you must fulfill. Examples include: a supervisory teacher to check up 3-4 times a year or a requirement of standardized testing once a year to make sure you're progressing. Especially on the highschool level, you have to be self motivated and be able to dig stuff out on your own. It's tougher material than elementry school and you don't have a teacher specially trained in that subject sitting right beside you to explain. Getting a good curriculum is key. I would suggest a program that includes video lectures or a satellite teacher. Abeka and Bob Jones are two that I'm familiar with (I didn't personally use video school because it was just emerging when I was in school). There are also curriculum that utilize computer programs to help you understand the information. Getting involved in a homeschool support group is also a big help. A lot of groups provide tutoring in subjects you're struggling with as well as providing an opportunity to get together with other homeschoolers. If you do decide to go with homeschooling I would also suggest getting your GED so you end up with something that's equal to a diploma. There are a few schools that will offer diplomas to the homeschool students in their area but most don't. That way you don't have to go through a lengthly explanation of why you don't have a diploma when you go to get a job. Hope this helps. Good luck in getting that education and keep on working towards it no matter what you decide.

I'm not sure what country you are in, but in the USA you go to this website. www.hslda.org to view the laws for homeschoolings. www.pennfosterhighschool.com will let you do classes if you live in or out of the USA.
