How do tactile letters quicken learning letters?

How tactile letters quicken learning process of letters?

  • Answer:

I go with Flopsy in this, Big is Best. Big seems to give something a priority. It isn't really surprising. My Mum was always proud of the fact that she has taught me to read early (apparently I was reading labels in wartime shops before I was 3 and US soldiers were putting Hershey bars in the pram 'Lady he can read' - she was sooo embarrassed!). I didn't really believe this so I tried it with my own children. If you make your words big it works so well. The first child I started a 11 months the second at 6 months using large flash cards with appropriate pictures on the back. The point is that success is rewarded, either by being allowed to feel or allowed to look and play with something and big somethings are better than small ones. Of course the parent is rewarded too. It's another 10 minutes in which the child is happy and productive. For me the whole experience of teaching 2 very young kids was so rewarding I became a Primary School teacher. Where of course it is different . . . . but you still go for BIG and/or TACTILE.
