observations and assessments are important so that the staff know what to expect from a child. What might be appropriate for one 4 year may not be for another. Also observing a child clues you in on things that are going on in thier lifes. Are they having trouble fitting in or behaving in a certain situation? Do they show fear of particular things or people? are they generally happy children ,or do they seem sad the majority of the time? Also, just by watching them, you can tell if they are not feeling well.
