There are tons of answers for you at our yahoo group Please join us at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/practicalkindergarten This group is based on a book written for helping do activities with 3-8 year olds that are perfect for cognitive development. I have several files that are directly out of the book. One each from the five sections, Language arts, math, science, social studies and cooking. Colors, shapes, counting all these can be part of many activities. I also have tons of links with other awesome activities. Recently in a class, we made spoon puppet to go with a big book story. Using plastic tableware (mostly spoons, but forks give them a great punk hairdo) and bits of yarn, ribbon and cloth, and some details with markers, the end result is so much fun...the whole activity, materials, planning, accomodations and a learning plan are all posted on the group. In this activity they did them to match characters from the book, but kids can do most anything with the puppets! hope this helps and have a great time with your kids!

Hide different shapes or colors around the room. Don't make it to hard to find put them on the floor on the wall make some a little harder to find. Make sure you hide plenty. If you have ten children hide about 100 colors or shapes. First of all have them find red then blue then yellow etc. Kids love to find things .It is close to Easter so you could hide colored eggs or constuction paper eggs. If some children or having trouble you might want to help them a little.

This age could make a fruit loop necklace which if done right could be a counting (have them count out 10 fruit loops) or a patterning for the older ones. You could make matching games using file folders that match shapes, or colors, or numbers with a certain number of stickers. Teach what colors mix together to make another color by putting 2 colors of paint into a baggy and letting the kids squish the two colors together. Red and blue make purple etc, then let the kids paint with these colors. Put commons scents into film canisters and see if the kids can determine what these are like vanilla, orange peel, onion, by smelling them. Hope some of these ideas help.

Well drawing is one of them, make them draw, compliment them, and tell them the colors they are using.Or those blocks.I don't really know other things....but make sure whatever you chose, make it safe for them, stick away from messy things even though they are fun.
