  Calming kids down you can use a loud voice saying if you can hear my voice clap you hands do a little softer if you can hear my voice touch your head, ect. Keep going until you have all the kids following directions and your voice is down to a whisper. Another calming technique is 3...2...1... FREEZE! or use the saying 1..2..3.. eyes on me and they say 1..2.. eyes on you. Whatever technique you use make sure you tell them what you expect them to do. This first day should be a little easier because everyone is nervous about who is in their group, who their group leader is, what they will be learning. Just be clear about what you expect. Behavior issues just depends on what it is. A child telling you no, a child hitting, kicking or biting. Just not listening to what you say. Depends on the issue at hand. How to teach them what?
