What is the fare from amtrak station chicago to midway a/p?

Hi! I just bought an AMTRAK ticket from NYC Penn Station heading to Chicago, IL Union Station via 49 Lakeshore?

  • Limited, and it says reserved coach class on my ticket. Does this mean that I need to call AMTRAK days before my departure date to make reservations for a seat/carriage number? or do ...show more

  • Answer:

As usual, PennyLee's response is right-on. The only thing I want to add is that you should have a photo id with you, since Amtrak may demand to see it as part of their security precautions.

The ticket is the reservation, it's your right to a seat on the train. Doesn't make a diffrence which one, but you have one. The diffrence with an "unreserved" ticket is that such a ticket just gets you on the train; getting a seat there means you have to hope the train is not too crowded.

no its open seating on those trains you can choose to sit anywhere you want expect for the sleeper cars amtraks likes to know how passengers will be traveling as tells them if they will have to add another car to the train
