Do most Spaniards get darker with age?

  • I only ask this because I was looking at pictures of my grandpa when he was in his 20's and he had olive skin tone, but now its gotten alot darker. Is this common in most spaniards ...show more

  • Answer:

Not really. When Spaniards retire, they spend more time sitting outside in bars or tending their gardens. The difference is that Spain is sunny so they get a sun tan.

Olive skin tone is not exactly standard in Spain, to start with. The aging process is the same for all human beings. Changes in skin quality, including spots, are common for all races. Changes in the main skin colour are not a natural thing. Maybe those pics you mention have faded a bit. And I'd guess they were black and white, so I really wonder how you can spot a change in colour.
