How Fast is a 2 Day Express?

Why are dates (at least in America) express in Month-Day-Year format?  How did that come to be?

  • Seems like Day-Month-Year or Year-Month-Day would make more sense.  And it's like that in a lot of other countries... (Also, any help classifying this question into subjects would help - not sure what to put up there.)

  • Answer:

The form is actually an import from the UK where the Month-Day format was used till the early 20th century.  Of course the rest of the world has moved on to a non-ambiguous format. I suspect it follows the spoken word, where it is more common to say, for example, June 21st. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calendar_date#Gregorian.2C_month-day-year
