Ad Aware- No clue how to manually update definitions...?

Download The newest version of it and reinstall updates... but first unintall from your computer and choose not to save anything.

A zip file is an archive. It's basically an encrypted folder. It's protected and it takes up less space. It will have an icon with a zipper on it to tell you it is zipped. In Windows, right-click the little "zipper" folder icon and then click Extract All. Tell the Wizard where you want to put the files. A temporary location is anywhere on your computer. They just mean a place to store the files until you are done with them. All you have to do is: 1. Download the ZIP file from their website. 2. Right click on the file you downloaded and choose extract all. Go through the wizard until you reach a screen that has a bar with something along the lines of "C:\Blah\Blah" and a Browse button. Paste or type in the exactly location that they provided you with (the "C:\ProgramsFiles\Lavasoft\Ad-A..." information) and hit next. This will unzip the files and place them in the installation directory (the place the software was installed to). 3. You're done, open Ad-Aware.

I had the same problem. I uninstalled the version I had and updated with Ad-Aware 2007. Problem solved.

check your firewall setting to allow it to access internet

Sorry but this reminds me of a support joke (probably an urban myth) but I wont quote it on here. Basically your level of ability with your pc says that you will get many problems with viruses and spyware etc. One word of advice : DO NOT DO INTERNET BANKING - YOU WILL GET KEYLOGGERS ON YOUR PC THAT WILL SEND YOUR PASSWORD TO THE CRIMINALS AND THEY WILL EMPTY YOUR BANK ACCOUNT. I work in IT and I dont do internet banking, you definitely should not. In time you will learn the answers to your questions, but I suggest taking a course such as the ECDL if you are in Europe, that will teach you tha basics about using your pc.
