    First do get your eyes tested, me I am short sighted therefore need a different set glasses for all close work, because I will not wear varivocals, If there is anything wrong with you your optician will see straight away, after all your eyes are the mirror of your sole (no joking) Even if you are borderline long or short sighted you might need glasses. Second Take regular breaks from te screen, stand up walk around helps If after having been cleared from the Opticians now I mean that sincerely, you can get a screen filter but do see the opticians they will be able to see if there are any medical reasons other than being in frot of the monitor to long

It's better to get an anti-glare screen for the monitor. Of course nothing compensates for taking quality time away from the screen

It's Actually a Fact that the new LCD (Flat Screen) Monitor's Are not.. Actually that bad for your Eyes, The Old Monitor's Was Though. *Quote* In general, an LCD monitor is much better than any CRT for fatigue, mainly because the LCD doesn't flicker. It is the flicker of a CRT that are most fatiguing -- assuming the brightness isn't set all the way up. So all i could Recommend is Taking Small.. Coffee/Tea Breaks? I Regularily go and make tea.. It's Quite Refreshing.. in more ways than one :)

There's a pretty neat free program that works quite nicely actually. Its called f.lux. It automatically heightens/lowers monitor brightness as well as tinting the screen accordingly depending on the time of day. Makes late night use so much more comfortable.

I wear tinted glasses, normal lense, they just soften the screen.

Personally I lower the contrast on both my monitors when I am going to be using it for a while. Wouldn't hurt to give it a try.
