  • Answer:

Have you already gone to college? That's a huge detail in what you have available. I'm going to assume you did and then you should start acting at your local theater and trying to find small film roles from a website such as backstage or actorsaccess. It would also help to hire an acting coach or take acting classes. You will not find a talent agent right now, a legit one anyway. Talent agents are paid on commission so they only want people with professional experience who they think are marketable so you'll need a lot more "professional" experience. After acting with your theater for a while and landing a few small screen roles then you might try to get a talent agent. Assuming you still haven't gone to college then you should do what I told you before but get your bachelors in acting. That helps a lot and gives you more credibility. Finally, you could go to a graduate school and get your masters of fine arts (in acting). Most graduate schools are very expensive, however, Florida State University waives the tuition fee for all of its Graduate students studying for their MFA.

Agencies will represent newbies if you're talented and fit what they're looking for. Search online for agencies in your area, and apply to all of them. Read reviews on them as well. Hopefully some will ask for interviews. If they ask for any money, leave. Except for photos, but don't pay more than about $500, and research the photographer. Check if your state requires agencies to be licensed, and if it does, don't sign with any non licensed ones. Trust your instinct and do lots of research! Taking professional classes may help as well. Go to interviews dressed nicely and age appropriately, same for makeup. Don't sign with more than two or three agents/agencies. Be prepared to be told you have to be a model as well. And be prepared to hear no. Or nothing at all. Many times. EDIT: Ignore the person above me, agencies accept newbies and are always looking for newbies. I was offered representation with only 3 shows as ensemble as experience.
