I want to start to get into acting and get parts in stage plays and stuff how could i go about this?

As someone who is studying acting at university, first tip is: be sure you want to do it, and remember your passion at all times! How I got into acting as a kid was through local ammature theatre companies. They are really good for giving you a broad and basic understanding of the theatre industry. It quite often also gives you the opportunity to work behind the scenes, something very worthwhile doing if you get the opportunity. If you are at school (?) asking your teachers to do plays (musicals are good, as they combine two faculties of the school) or taking drama as a subject is good. If you know actors, film makers, theatre technicians, ANYONE in the industry, get in contact with them and see if they have any sort of work they need extras for. It is a good way to experience the industry. You most likely won't get paid for the work, but experience is worth more than gold. Check out the papers for short courses, or up coming auditions for plays or commercials. Experiencing the audition process is so worthwhile. Get yourself a copy of Chekov's "To the actor" and READ IT! Yes it is a little arty farty, but, it will give a good understanding of the actors craft. There is another book by Stanslavski with is awesome too...the name has escaped me. Read plays, read books, see live theatre and get as much involved in the industry as you possibly can. Good luck! You don't say how old you are, but if you're in school, join your school's drama club, and take theatrical classes if you're in college. If you're an adult, join your local community theater group and get involved there.

You should go to the Stella arts school for acting in New York. Many hollywood actors graduated from there. I know what you feel, I make movies and i'm trying to get to Hollywood i'm 19, just don't let anybody put you down, you can do whatever you want, as long as you have th passion.
