The reason people call it a scam is because there are 1000s of people applying to every single casting call posted, so your chances of even getting called in for an audition are slim unless you have a VERY strong resume with years of experience and training. Also, as Empty says, very few casting calls are open calls listed on websites. The vast majority of casting calls are only available to agents and are never posted on websites like Starnow or any other site
