  with private horseback ridings lessons, you often get more one-on-one time with the trainer, which can lead to a more enjoyable experience. it will probably also lead to advancement faster, but then again it all depends on the person. in group lessons, you don't get as much one-on-one time, but you also learn necessary rules about when riding with numerous other horses. if you're starting out completely new, i would recommend first starting out private, then going to semi-private (2 or 3 riders) until you feel comfortable enough to ride in a group lesson
