To this end they are low powered and fire 6mm plastic ammo. They're Usually spring, battery, propane or CO2 powered. BB guns have been designed for target shooting and hunting small game. They can be much more powerful and it can be possible to kill someone with one. They fire metal BB's (4.5mm) and are powered by a variety of methods, though often gas. They are NOT intended to shoot other people with and you should NEVER shoot someone else with on.

Airsoft guns shoot plastic bbs, bb guns shoot metal bbs, bb guns hurt a hell of a lot more and generally shoot harder. Airsoft guns are either electric, spring powered, or gas powered. The most common gas used is called green gas, which is pretty much propane with lubricant added. Spring powered guns must be coc ked between shots, and electric guns are generally fully automatic. BB guns are generally either pumped or run off of co2 cartridges. If you want to shoot someone go with an airsoft gun.

Airsoft is just a brand name. it's a really expensive brand name too. they're all BB guns or pellet guns. some need co2, some are pump. you can tell, which isi which just by looking @ the box. Look at the velocity, that's a real giveaway. like, 800, is not a co2 gun. you can usually get a crossman BB gun with the same features and velocity as an airsoft for about $20 less.
