Convince my parents to let me get an airsoft gun?

If all else fails, you will be an adult in two years and presumably out of the house, off to college and/or working full time, or maybe serving in the military. Then you can buy whatever you want. At that time, if you're living off your own money, you may find that buying a really expensive toy is less appealing and you may wish to get into real firearms and shooting sports. Until then, demonstrate your maturity by getting perfect grades and working and saving money when you're not studying. Sorry your parents don't appreciate guns but when you're an adult you can find many responsible, like-minded adults who will share your interests.

you have to show them how mature you really are. start looking up gun safety and stuff like that. tell them that you will treat it like a real firearm, as i'm sure you know it can cause significant damage to someones eye. prove to them that you are aware of the consequences if the gun is maltreated. they're are different kinds of airsoft guns. springers which are about 30$ and you have to cock it back for every shot. there are electric ones (AEG) which are mostly assault rifles and take batteries. They range about 100$ and up and have semi and fully automatic firing modes. last but not least there are gas blow back guns (GBB) that operate mostly on green gas. you can get GBB rifle and GBB pistols. you have to fill the magazine with gas for it to work and they range from 150$-200$ and up. show your parents all of types of airsoft guns and ask which one they would rather you get. it took me about a year to convince my parents to let my get one. overall its about showing that you're mature and aware of the consequences. i would start of with a cheap electric or springer. hope this helps

I'd just suggest asking them why they won't let you buy one and pointing out that they are in fact toys (my nine year old little brother has an off brand he got it when he was seven) and they come in three types electric, co2, and spring loaded and ask them to trust you with a simple spring loader for starts then maybe once they see how harmless they are they will let you upgrade. Or another idea is ask them if they would let you borrow one of your friends airsoft guns for a while as a sort of probation. My guess is they don't understand how harmless they are. p.s: Sorry if they say "you'll shoot your eye out" you're screwed.

They are not guns, they are toys. I don't know how mature you have to be to run around with a pointy toy that squirts plastic balls out the end. My youngest son wanted an airsoft toy for about three years. I kept trying to get him to let me get a Ruger 10/22 or some other decent gun so he could shoot his gun with me and his other siblings. I finally relented when he was 12 and let him get one. It was pretty cool, his looked just like his 16 year old brother's AR-15. His older brother even let him use his genuine Bushmaster case to haul his toy around.
