Well, if your just going for any fish in any body of water, then a kastmaster will do the job.

For night fishing, I've heard Arbogast Jitterbugs are highly recommended. I've just started playing around with lures myself, but I would say that no tackle box should be without some plain chrome Kastmaster spoons (in various sizes) as they seem to work well on a very wide variety of fish, both in saltwater and freshwater. Black or dark purple plastic worms are old tried and true artificial baits that seem to provide good results in most places, and I like florescent green curly tail grubs which work particularly well on panfish and trout.

You should try a red-eye-ruby! They work great on Pike!

Gulp alive are good lures becasue they give out a scent unlike the plastic and metal lures that dont. What fish are you going after. If you're going for bass like me then i like to use the Rapala fire tiger. But if you are talking about any fish then you could go with your typical minnow.
