  • Answer:

I went last week down to Port Oconner Tx. and did the same thing... We used surf casting rods mostly with shrimp and squid.. not much luck ,, but we didn't know what we were doing. lol... we did however go out on a private charter the next day and cleaned up on the snapper and kings about 48 mi. out.... were I too have more time to shore fish I would have gone to the local bait shop and ask them.. they're usually pretty helpful,, and they know what they been selling the most of,, and they hear what the locals have been doing the best with.... Good Luck and have fun.

Right now The jetties are on fire! redfish and blackdrum are plentiful up and down them. Here's another one of my answers to a similar question from last week. "I'm from florida so I don't fish that area but I know a team that just got through fishing the Redfish Cup tournament over there and the first two days 90% of the teams were fishing Jetties. The last day the winning fish came from somewhere else but I would start there. I'm not sure how far the tide falls over there but I would start looking on the flats around shoreline for cuts and potholes, oysters and rocks. Watch other boats." For more info email me
