How many parent's believe in spanking with a belt. Why or why not?

Hell no. It is ASSAULT with a WEAPON. We're not allowed to whip criminals in jail for rape and murder, what makes people think it's ok to do it to children? F*ck "cultural differences", it is assault with a weapon and should be treated as such. "A regular spanking doesn't need to be very hard to get a point across." If you're having to spank your kids regularly, I'd say you're not getting your point across very well at all.

I do believe in using the belt for spanking. I didn't use it until my oldest son was about 12. He grabbed a hold of his mom when he was angry about getting in trouble. He didn't hurt her, but he needed to learn that that kind of behavior is not acceptable. After that, the belt was/is only used for extreme cases. 98% of the time the behavior is immediately stopped if they are threatened with the belt. For the people that say children fear parents that spank. That isn't the case in our family. They fear the punishment. Not the parent.

Open hand/clothed bum - Yes Belt/other object and/or bare bottom - No

I currently work for Child Protective Services in California and it's perfectly legal to spank with a belt as long as no marks are left on the child, ideally we ask that you spank with an open hand on the child's rear end but we have to respect cultural differences in some cultures using a belt or shoe is common practice, but mostly in Mexican Families. I do not agree or disagree with this kind of spanking as long as the child is not being abused, what I mean by this is as long as there are no emotional issues or physical scars on the child.

completely against spanking with a belt! that is more like child abuse. I do beleive in spanking but with an open hand and not hard enough to hurt the child or bruise them.

I believe in spankings, not with a belt, but with my opened hand. I don't necessarily believe the belt means abuse because a parent can control how hard the belt hits the same way they can with their hand. Using the opened hand was just the way I was raised.

A regular spanking doesn't need to be very hard to get a point across. The few times I've spanked my children, I don't think it even hurt them physically, but they got the message. I can't see any reason why a child would need to be hit with a belt. Being hit with a belt really hurts and is just plain old abusive. If a parent is spanking so often that a regular spanking is no longer effective and they feel the need to use a belt, it means that they're spanking their child too much.

I am from a culture where spanking is accepted All of us are not crazy because of it, in fact we are seeing those modern parents have a new problem children who do not listen to them even in times of danger. They don't shout nor spank My mother used to say" those little people will spot your weakness and use it against you, come off strong!" She would spank you and tell you why she is doing that
